Setting:
When thinking of the fictional kingdom of Arendelle, think of Norway in the mid-19th century. Much of the movie's environments and designs were taken from that period to invoke a fairy tale look, and also perhaps partly because the original Snow Queen story was written in the 1840s. And in many ways, that is exactly where the world of the movie comes from. Despite being a fictional kingdom, Arendelle has received visitors with Irish, French, and Spanish accents during the queen's coronation, which stands to reason that these countries - or at least ones that are extremely similar - exist in their world. At the same time, the two main characters from another Disney movie (Tangled) also make a brief cameo appearance, which would imply that their fictional kingdom of Corona also exists here.
Though much of the kingdom's look is heavily based on real 19th century Nordic designs that we could easily look up in our own art history, bear in mind that, being a Disney movie, there are some hard hitting differences between our world and theirs. Most notably, the existence of magic and certain magical creatures. In this world, magic is just as real a concept as gravity or electricity, but much, much rarer. Very few people seem to know much of anything about it beyond simple fairy tales and legends which, just as they would be in our own world, are very easily dismissed as fiction. The royal family (or families, if we again consider the magical flower featured in Disney's Tangled as being part of the same world) would appear to be one group of people that know it as truth, since the eldest princess was born with magical powers of ice and snow, and the king is quick to turn to ancient texts and maps when Elsa's magical abilities start to get out of hand. While it's never explained how this connection came to be, it appears to be a long-standing relationship considering the fact that the trolls immediately acknowledge and respect Arendelle's king.
The trolls are the other half of that magical presence in the world of the movie. These trolls are not quite the large, dumb, violent kind that one might see in other movies (Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, for instance). The trolls in Frozen are mysterious creatures that are hidden away in Arendelle's nearby mountains, usually rolled up into round boulder shapes as a means of camouflage and protection. They seem to emerge only in front of those who need them, and maybe even only those who deserve their help. They're the resident magical experts of the world, the eldest and wisest among them shown being able to remove the harmful effects of being struck by Elsa's ice powers. However, they never claim to have any knowledge that will help Elsa control her powers; they only warn her about both the beauty and the danger that are inherent in them. The trolls can read through a person's character in an instant, which renders any lies or tricks useless against them. They are also considered "love experts", able to recognize true love and being major advocates for people to find love in their lives.
Again, Elsa's magical powers are extremely rare. So rare, in fact, that when her powers are publicly exposed, the people have mixed reactions. While the negativity may have stemmed simply from the fact that Elsa was being chased by a man who kept yelling "Sorcery!" and "Monster!", it's obvious that they've never seen anyone have such powers before. Whether or not that means she's the first one to ever have powers or just the first in a very long time is never made clear. The stories of trolls are not uncommon, though, since all of the main characters recognized them for what they were upon seeing them (even while very young), so it's probably not completely unheard of. Eventually Elsa's magic becomes accepted and beloved by the people; one more thing to praise and celebrate about their queen.
Personality:
Anna is warm and friendly, excitable and energetic, bright and brave, an eternal optimist and idealist -- almost to a fault. She has a thousand fantasies in her head that she often feels the need to play out somehow - a result of years of having to entertain herself in the castle. She loves people, particularly when it comes to meeting new ones, and she's absolutely tickled pink at the prospect of getting to see them all face to face. In a world where everyone tends to wear masks and put on airs, with Anna, “what you see is what you get” absolutely applies. She wears her heart on her sleeve and is quick to open up to people, never hiding herself or her goofy quirks, as she’s never felt any shame over who she is. The only times she's ever put on a stronger, more serious appearance were when the situation was dire and her duty as princess called for it. Otherwise she'll happily dance through town, slide through the castle ballrooms in her socks, and wave cheerfully at total strangers wearing only towels in the next room over.
Her isolation from anyone that wasn't family or a servant at the castle for nearly her entire life has left her naive in many ways, entirely too gullible and trusting. In fact, it’s made her pretty desperate for the kind of connection and love that she once had with her sister Elsa. The way she sees it, any person she meets is bound to be a better conversationalist than the paintings in the castle. She firmly believes that no one should ever be alone, willingly or not, and always strives to provide good company to those around her. Anna hates being alone and feeling unloved. She’s spent her entire life being shut inside her castle and out of the lives of some of the people she loves the most, and she’s found it nothing but frustrating and heart-breaking. After Elsa stopped playing with her, it feels like she grew up completely on her own, despite her numerous attempts to reconnect with her older sister. The truth of it being a “so close and yet so far” situation only made it worse. That desire to connect provides her with a great adventurous spirit and a “never say die” attitude, and enables her to face every incoming challenge with faith and determination.
Though she's definitely very sweet, Anna can be extremely fiery and impulsive, headstrong and determined when she has to be. She'll stand up for whatever she believes in, and loudly if she feels it's necessary. Being raised in the castle as a princess, she knows what her duty is and how to uphold it, but to her, family and friendship is most important and she's not afraid to say so. She believes in her sister, certainly more than she believes in herself; perhaps because she knows that compared to Elsa, Anna is the ordinary, unimpressive one. Perhaps it's because of this that she can be so selfless at times, putting the safety and/or happiness of others before herself especially when she knows how important it is. Not to say that she hasn't had her own selfish fits, though; finding romance and true love is the one major selfish desire that she feels she's allowed to have.
Although she's a princess and was raised thusly, Anna's a free spirit and therefore anything but graceful or refined. She can be very messy, clumsy, and awkward, and for all that she tries to be assertive and authoritative like the princess she's supposed to be, it's not something that comes easily to her. She's extremely excitable, easily swept off her feet, and wonderfully quirky. Words will often tumble out of her mouth before she's even realized it, leaving her somewhat shocked once her mind's caught up. Anna has a real flair for the dramatic, often jumping to conclusions and imagining herself in a number of idealistic (perhaps unlikely) situations. She's quick to laugh at herself though, acknowledging many of her own eccentricities and embracing them as part of her identity. To know her is to accept her, and she strives to apply that same principle to everyone she meets -- though eventually she's bound to learn that not everyone is exactly what they seem to be.
Finding herself in the “in-between” would definitely come as more than a little shock. Being Arendelle’s princess, Anna believes her place is back home, even if she’s not in line to rule the kingdom one day. Not only that, but she really prefers to keep close to her family, even if they may not necessarily feel the same way. As such, the need to go home and/or reunite with her family would take the forefront of her mind, and she would move forward with that as her primary drive. Until then, ever the optimist, she'd do her utmost to make the best of the situation. Whether that meant simply keeping a positive outlook or actually going out of her way to find some way to improve a thing or two, Anna will be sure to do it.
Appearance:
Anna has strawberry blonde hair that she ties into two braided pigtails draped over her shoulders, with a single platinum streak running down the right side of her head (the result of an accident with Elsa’s powers as a child), and short bangs that fall just above her eyebrows. She’s about average height with a slender build, fair skin with a sprinkling of freckles across her face and shoulders, and bright blue eyes. She’ll typically wear dresses that reach below her knees and boots; when in the mountains she wears a light blue long-sleeved top with a black bodice, a long blue skirt, aqua mittens, black boots, and a maroon cloak with a matching hatpiece.

Abilities:
None. Anna is a completely ordinary human girl.
Inventory:
Just… her mountain-going clothes, really. Dress, boots, cloak, hat, mittens. Undergarments. Possibly a money pouch.
Suite:
No preference!

It had been a long day so far. Between her usual princess lessons, she filled the hours with running around the castle, sliding down hallways and banisters, catching up on the castle gossip, riding her horse... And now that the day was coming to a close, she was sliding down the hall back toward her room-
And passing Elsa's on the way.
She stumbled inadvertently, coming to an abrupt stop as she had to catch herself. And suddenly she was standing just a few feet from the shut bedroom door of her older sister. The bright expression that had been across her face suddenly fades as her eyes fell on the door. The same old thoughts went running through her head, the strong desire to knock on the door and reach out to her sister pulling urgently at her heartstrings. Things would be so much better, so much more fun if Elsa would just open the door and join her in the day's activities the way they used to as children. But the last time Anna ever even saw this door open was years ago, as Elsa shut it tight behind her.
That hadn't stopped her from trying for the years that followed that day. Drawing in a deep breath, Anna took a few halting steps closer to the door, raising a hand to knock on its surface. The last time she'd tried this was on the day of their parents' funeral, and even then Elsa hadn't responded. As usual. But today, with her coronation just around the corner, just maybe...
She rapped her knuckles lightly against the wood. "Elsa?"
Nothing, as usual. Anna pressed her lips together into a line, pulling in another breath before trying again. "Elsa, are you in there?"
She probably was. But Elsa rarely even said anything through the door in response to her little sister's calls. The silence always hurt her, right in the heart, but still Anna pressed on, mustering up a little smile. "I just wanted to say congratulations! You'll officially be the queen of Arendelle soon. You must be so excited!"
Still nothing. Anna pressed her hand flat against the door, shutting her eyes as she tried to imagine what Elsa was doing on the other side. She tried to imagine Elsa looking thrilled, tried to imagine what she would be saying in response to Anna's own excitement.
"I just know you're gonna be amazing! And I bet your dress is beautiful, too." She smiled again, even laughed a little. "I can't wait to see it. And I'm sure everyone else in the kingdom can't wait either!" Then she paused, biting on her lower lip for a second. "I'm sure mama and papa would be so proud of you. I know I am."
After another pause, Anna finally leaned back and away from the door. She'd done her best in that moment. Letting out a sigh, Anna nodded to herself. "Well... That's all I wanted to say. I'll see you at dinner."
Then she stepped back and resumed her walk to her room. One day, Elsa would open up again. She'd try again tomorrow.

[Despite being taught how to use the device in her suite, a good few moments of fiddling with it pass before she even realizes she’s gotten it switched on. When she does it’s with a surprised little gasp and a pleased sort of laugh.] Oh! I got it!
[She leans back, tucking some hair behind her ear before she clears her throat, preparing to speak. Anna’s not really used to addressing a public audience, but she's going to try her best anyway. And she starts with a cheerful wave.] Hello to, ah, everyone out there that can see me! I'm Anna. And I… I wanted to thank everyone so much for all their help since I got here.
I also have a quick question. I know they said that we probably can't leave here, ever, but it's kind of important that I do. I mean, first of all I have to find my sister and bring her home, to Arendelle. It's really important, so I wanted to see if anybody had any ideas?
Anyway, it's very nice to meet you all! I mean- Well, I guess I'm not really meeting you, since we're not seeing each other, which is still really weird, but- you know what I mean. Okay. Um- That's all! Sooo... Thank you very much. For your time.
[And she bites nervously on her lip as she attempts to turn off the console.]
